Carrefour Kenya has opened a new store in Thome along the Northern Bypass in Marurui, taking its total number of stores in the country to 36.
The new outlet, operated by Majid Al Futtaim, covers more than 1,600 square metres and stocks approximately 13,000 products, including fresh produce, groceries, household essentials, health and beauty products, and Carrefour private-label items.
The store also features self-checkout counters, which are designed to provide customers with a faster and more convenient shopping experience.
The opening has created 33 direct jobs for Kenyans, adding to Carrefour Kenya’s workforce of more than 3,000 employees.
Majid Al Futtaim said the new store will also expand market access for products sourced from local suppliers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through Carrefour’s retail network.
The Thome outlet adds to Carrefour’s growing retail presence in Kenya as the retailer continues to expand its network across the country.
Majid Al Futtaim, which holds the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour in Kenya, introduced modern grocery retail to the region in 1995. The group currently operates a portfolio of brands across a network of nearly 500 stores.
The company said the Thome opening reinforces its commitment to making quality retail more accessible across the country.
