TECNO has unveiled expanded capabilities for its Beta-stage EllaClaw mobile AI agent, introducing new features designed to simplify smartphone management through cross-app assistance, AI-powered automation and smarter device optimization.
The announcement, made on June 24 in Nairobi, forms part of the company’s broader Practical AI strategy, which focuses on making artificial intelligence more useful and accessible for users in emerging markets, including Kenya.
Speaking during the announcement, TECNO General Manager Jack Guo said the company is exploring ways to make agentic AI more practical for everyday mobile users.
With TECNO EllaClaw, we are exploring how agentic AI can become genuinely practical in real mobile life. Our goal is to create AI that helps simplify everyday tasks, reduce friction and make advanced experiences more accessible, while ensuring transparency and user control remain central to the experience, Guo said.
Among the latest additions are more than 40 Smart Skills that enable EllaClaw to optimize RAM and CPU performance, identify apps consuming excessive battery power, reduce device overheating and monitor mobile data usage based on individual habits. The AI agent is also designed to confirm major system changes before execution, giving users greater visibility and control over sensitive actions.
Beyond device management, EllaClaw incorporates persistent memory to support recurring daily routines. According to TECNO, the AI can compile personalized morning briefings with calendar events, travel itineraries, weather updates and news, while also assisting users with trip planning by organizing schedules, setting reminders and arranging transportation.
The upgraded platform also introduces cross-app intelligence, allowing EllaClaw to interact with third-party applications, including shopping, ride-hailing, food delivery, smart home and messaging services, with the user’s permission. TECNO says the system navigates applications through visible on-screen interactions, enabling users to follow each step rather than relying on hidden automated processes.
The company added that EllaClaw remains in internal testing and closed beta development, with additional details on its capabilities and wider availability expected as development progresses.
TECNO, which operates in more than 70 markets worldwide, continues to expand its portfolio of AI-powered smartphones and smart devices as it seeks to strengthen its presence across emerging markets.
